Our Back Porch is located in one
of the oldest buildings still standing in the hamlet of
Mansfield, Indiana. It is operated by Chris and Tami Dowers
as a small diner open most weekends between June and
September. It is also open during the famous Covered Bridge
Festival held each year in the early part of October. You
will find Chris and Tami in the store or on the front
porch waiting to greet you. |

Our menu
is simple and all items are prepared after you order them.
Rest at a table inside or at a table overlooking the
historic Roller Mill. Big Raccoon Creek can be heard
spilling over the mill dam and local folks may be taking
advantage of the ole swimming hole. The Mill is open on
Saturday and Sunday for a tour of how it was done in the old
days. The Mansfield Bridge is only a few feet away for your
picture taking urges. |

The
shelves are stocked with merchandise reflecting the early
days of Mansfield. There are collectibles and painted
objects that will add a personal touch to your home. The
inventory is changing daily while the food is constantly
good. Enjoy a cold bottle of pop in the original glass .

The
exterior building basically unchanged from it original
1830's style. It is not unusual to see people there you will
know. Wayne Jenkins, of Terre Haute TV 10 Weatherman fame,
is a regular and enjoys sharing memories of early days.
